ON THE
Two Days of Scholarly Anticipations
Now on its 4th year, the International Research Forum on the Philippines (IRFP), previously known as The Philippine Research Forum, is a gathering of academics, scholars, and students interested about the Philippines. It is a coming together of people from different disciplines, locations, and cultural backgrounds to discuss about their recent scholarly work related to the Philippines, attend workshops, and engage in roundtable discussions about the annual theme.

The Filipino Australian Students Council of Victoria (FASTCO), in cooperation with the Philippines Australia Studies Center of La Trobe University, hopes to make IRFP 2016 an avenue to raise critical questions, intellectually engage with fellow scholars on the Philippines, and hopefully generate constructive ideas concerning issues, challenges, and potentials of Philippine research. With the vibrant Melbourne landscape and interesting papers as backdrop, this year's forum is definitely something to look forward to.

About IRFP 2016
Originally started as a gathering of Filipino postgraduate students (MAs and PhDs) in Australia as a research-sharing opportunity, the conference has now grown to include Filipino scholars based in the Philippines, academics in Australia, and even community leaders . The conference has always been spearheaded by the Filipino Australian Students Council (FASTCO) of Victoria in cooperation with La Trobe's Philippines Australia Studies Center since 2013 and has helped postgraduates to think about their work more critically, scholars to promote and build networks, and community leaders to communicate issues.

Submission Date:

Submit an accomplished submission form including (1) title, (2) 250-word abstract, (3) short bio, 100 words (max) through irfp2016@fastcovic.org with the subject "IRFP 2016 Abstract".

Recent developments in the Philippines, along with greater social media access, have engendered more conspicuous participation of Filipinos in discourse and introspection about CHANGE and FUTURES.
This year, the Filipino-Australian Students Council of Victoria (FASTCO) and La Trobe University's Philippines Australia Studies Centre (PASC) invite postgraduate students, scholars, and individuals to take part in the International Research Forum on the Philippines.
